This is where we ate.
AND THEN WE SAW A CHOO-CHOO!!!!!
A quick corner of Georgia.
But then to Alabama! As the AAA book says, "the Deep South doesn't get any deeper than Alabama."
Birmingham, AL. Historic Rickwood Field. The oldest ballpark in America. It will turn 100 in a few months!
Todd tried to buy tickets, but it was closed for renovations.
We swept right past here.
Oh, right, Alabama.
But there's hope!
This was the first White House of the Confederacy.
This is the Capitol Building of Alabama. It's directly across the street from the house shown above.
Rosa Parks Memorial. She took her stand by taking her seat on the Montgomery bus.
Interesting intersection
Montgomery was central in the Civil Rights movement.
We made it to the Montgomery Biscuits (AA for the Rays)! Oddly, they were playing the Birmingham Barons (AA for the White Sox). We could have just followed the players' bus.
This is their store.
YUMMY! Stuffed animal biscuits!
The field
"Rain makes corn. Corn makes whiskey. Whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky. I love it when it rains."
Stephanie: I am not often truly moved by the National Anthem. It was different in Montgomery. When they sang "the land of free and the home of the brave" I was felled. Mere miles away from where Rosa Parks made her statement, these words take on a real meaning.
